Camera Software / Firmware Release notes 1.18.x

Following our camera platform upgrade on 9th July 2024, we have been working closely with our developers to reintroduce key features and functionalities that were previously available.

Please note: this article is an amended version from our video platform provider. We have simplified and include the changes that relate to the Digicore Dash Cam. Click here to see the release notes for 1.17 x.

1.18.0 (July 16, 2024)

Vision Changes:

• Support for Australian Road Signs:
  • New support for school signs in Australia, where no violation will be raised.
  • Stop signs near traffic lights in Australia are now handled differently; if the traffic light is not red, the stop sign is ignored, and no violation is raised.
  • Improved handling of digital speed signs incorrectly detected as stop signs in Australia.
• Enhanced Detection Features:
  • Better management of lane calibration issues, particularly when the bonnet line is high or when mounting changes occur.
  • Improved smoking detection with reduced false positives.
  • Enhanced detection of head pose distraction.
  • Improved seatbelt detection.

Additions in Live Telematics and Device-Tracking Events:

• Dynamic GPS Point Allocation:
  • The number of GPS points sent to the Live-Telematics Kafka queue now dynamically increases based on road curvature.
• Image Capture Details:
  • Periodic image capture details are now provided through the Live-Telematics Queue.

Other Changes:

• DVR Data Encryption:
  • Support for encrypting DVR data stored on external SDCards is now available.
• Field-Of-View Adjustments:
  • The field of view for Tailgating and Forward-Collision Warning has been reduced to better reflect the severity of the captured events.
• Fleet Home-Location Identifier:
  • The ability to send a fleet home-location identifier for Wi-Fi-direct-based driver ID assignment is now available.
• Improved DVR Request Reliability:
  • DVR request reliability has been enhanced by periodic polling of the Lightmetrics server, which is particularly useful if push notifications are down.
• Additional DVR Response Fields:
  • Additional message fields are now included in the DVR response for CANCELLED and UNAVAILABLE statuses.
• Location Bundle in DVR Requests:
  • The location bundle, previously part of video DVR requests only, is now included in DVR image requests and current image capture requests.
• New Speed Violation Alerts:
  • New methods for alerting Speed-Sign Violation and Upper-Speed-Limit Violation based on extended duration have been introduced.
• False Potential Crash Event Filtering:
  • Speed-based filtering can now be enabled to prune false Potential Crash events.
• Dynamic SDCard Detection:
  • The application now dynamically detects and starts using the SDCard if it is inserted during a running trip, rather than only checking SDCard availability at trip start.
• Driver Privacy Feature:
  • Drivers now have the option to completely stop all sensor recordings for privacy reasons.

Bug Fixes:

• Yawning Detection Alert:
  • Fixed an issue where the audio alert for yawning detection was being given twice.
